Midea 5.7 Liter Multicooker, Electric Pressure Cooker (UK and US Models)
Dried beans with no overnight soak. Porridge at the press of a button.
Beans, lentils and whole grains are some of the best foods you can eat, and the most awkward to cook. A Midea multicooker takes the waiting out of them: dried chickpeas go in straight from the bag, porridge cooks on its own preset, and a Sunday pot of lentils turns into lunches for the whole week. There are two models, one on Amazon UK and one on Amazon.com, so pick the one for where you live.
See it cook: dried beans, porridge
and soup, all in one pot.
Two models: pick the one for your country
UK readers: the Midea 5.7L 9-in-1 multicooker on Amazon UK, with a UK plug, beans and porridge presets, a 24 hour delay start and a steam rack in the box.
US readers: the Midea 12-in-1 6 quart pressure cooker on Amazon.com, with a US plug and oatmeal and bean chili presets.
They're different models from the same brand, built for each country's power supply. Each button below opens the right one.

Forget to soak the beans? It doesn't matter
Dried beans are cheap, filling and full of fiber, and most of us still buy cans because soaking them overnight is one more thing to remember. Under pressure, dried beans and chickpeas cook from dry, no soak needed. Soak them if you like and they cook even faster. Lentils need no soaking at all. Rinse, add water, press the bean preset, and walk away.

Steel-cut oats without standing at the stove
Steel-cut oats are the slow, chewy kind that keep you full all morning, and on the hob they mean twenty minutes of stirring. Put them in with water or milk, press the porridge or oatmeal preset, and the cooker handles the rest, then keeps them warm until you sit down. On the UK model, set the 24 hour delay start at night and wake up to breakfast.
The easy way to eat more beans, lentils and whole grains
Our guide to the best foods for a healthy heart, on the VivaNutrition blog, puts oats, beans and lentils near the top of the list, along with oily fish, nuts and olive oil. A multicooker is the tool we'd pick to make that list easy to keep: dried pulses with no overnight soak, porridge on its own preset, fish and vegetables steamed in the same pot. Midea says its pressure cooking is up to 70% faster than traditional methods, which is the difference between beans on a weeknight and beans never.
Getting started
Rinse dried beans and lentils first, and pick out any small stones.
Never fill past the max line, and for beans and grains, which foam, stay at or below half full.
For porridge and soups, let the pressure drop naturally until the float valve falls before you open the lid.
Check your model's manual for bean and porridge times, then adjust to the texture you like.

Are the UK and US versions the same cooker?
No. They're two different Midea models, each built for its country's plug and voltage. Both are 5.7 liter (6 quart) pressure cookers with bean and porridge or oatmeal presets and a dishwasher-safe stainless steel pot. The UK model adds a 24 hour delay start and a steam rack in the box.
Do I need to soak beans before pressure cooking them?
No. Under pressure, dried beans and chickpeas cook from dry. Soaking first shortens the cooking time, but it isn't required, and lentils never need soaking.
Can it cook steel-cut oats?
Yes. Use the porridge preset on the UK model or the oatmeal preset on the US model, with water or milk, and let the pressure drop naturally before you open the lid.
What size is it?
5.7 liters on the UK model and 6 quarts on the US model: enough for about six portions, and big enough to batch-cook beans or grains for the week.
Is the inner pot easy to clean?
Yes. On both models the stainless steel inner pot lifts out and is dishwasher safe.
Who sells and delivers it?
