Self-Rolling Cat Balls, Set of Two: Rechargeable, With No Tail

All the chase, none of the string.

Switch one on, set it on the floor and it rolls off by itself, changing direction when it bumps into the sofa or the skirting board. Your cat gets something real to stalk, chase and pounce on, with no tail, string or ribbon to chew or swallow. There are two in the set: one in play while the other charges, or one each in a two-cat home. The Christmas present for a cat with its eye on the tinsel, and a reason to play every day after.

It moves on its own: it rolls, stops and changes direction when it meets furniture, so it behaves less like a ball and more like something worth hunting.
No tail, no string: the popular version trails a rope tail. These don't, on purpose, so there are no strands to chew off and swallow.
Two, not one: one in play while the other charges, or one each so two cats aren't fighting over a single toy.
Rechargeable: charges by USB, cable in the box, so there are no little batteries to buy or leave lying around.

Something to hunt that isn't your ankles

Cats are built to stalk, chase and pounce, and an indoor cat with nothing to hunt will find something: your feet under the duvet, the curtain tie-back, the tinsel. Put one of these on the floor and switch it on. It trundles off, bumps into the table leg, turns and heads somewhere else, and that unpredictable path is what gets a cat crouched, tail twitching, ready to spring.

Why there are two

A toy that's always on charge is a toy that isn't being played with. With two in the set, one can be rolling while the other recharges, so playtime doesn't stop when the battery does. In a two-cat home, each cat gets its own, so nobody has to wait their turn.

Something to chase that isn't the tinsel

To a cat, a shiny strand swinging from the tree is a toy. That's why tinsel, ribbon and the string off the presents are on the RSPCA's Christmas warning list: swallowed, they can cause blockages the charity calls life-threatening. Taking the tinsel away is half the answer. The other half is giving your cat something better to chase. These balls do the job a dangling ribbon does, the movement and the pounce, without leaving anything behind to swallow. Roll one out while the presents are being opened and see which they'd rather have.

The present for the cat who's eyeing the tree

Wrap them for under the tree, or give them a day early and let the cat wear itself out before the guests arrive. Either way, it's a present that's actually used, not one that ends up under the sofa by teatime.

Charge, play, put away

Give each ball a full charge before its first game, using the USB cable in the box and a standard 5V/1A USB plug or a laptop. Charge them on a hard surface, out of your cat's reach, and keep the cable tidied away too. When playtime's over, put them away so they stay exciting.

Getting the most out of them

Play together for the first few games: roll one past your cat and let them catch on.

Keep play sessions short and put the balls away afterwards, so they stay a treat rather than furniture.

Charge with a standard 5V/1A USB plug or a laptop. Never use a fast charger.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Never put them in water.

Why is there no tail?
On purpose. The best-selling version of this toy trails a rope tail, and string, ribbon and tinsel are exactly what vets warn about when cats swallow them. These are plain balls: all the chase, with no strands to chew off.
Will my cat actually play with it?
Cats differ. Some pounce from the first roll; others watch for a while. If yours hangs back, join in: roll it past them, play together for a few minutes, then put it away so it stays new. Short, regular games work better than leaving it out all day.
Can I leave my cat alone with it?
It's made for play you're around for. Stay nearby while it's rolling and put both balls away when the game's over, the same as any electronic toy.
How do I charge them?
With the USB cable in the box, from a laptop or a standard 5V/1A USB plug. Don't use a fast charger. Charge them on a hard surface out of your cat's reach, and give each one a full charge before its first game.
Is it suitable for dogs?
It's sized and made for cats, at about 6 to 7 cm across. A dog could chew or swallow it, so keep it for the cat.
Will they arrive in time for Christmas?
Delivery is free and tracked, but we can't promise a date in the Christmas rush. If they're a present, order early.
What if they aren't right?
You have 30 days to send them back free, as long as they're unused and in their original packaging.
